The Visioscan® VC 20plus is a unique UVA-light video camera with high resolution to study the skin surface directly.
The SELS®parameters (Surface Evaluation of the Living Skin) have been developed especially for this camera and are used in numerous studies. The images show the structure of the skin and the level of dryness very impressively.
The camera can be used on pigmented spots and lesions and on hair. With its multi-functional software, the Visioscan® VC 20plus is a very flexible system to characterize skin surface condition easily, accurately and very economically. It had been used on board of the International Space Station ISS for several years.

The camera
- In contrary to conventional colour skin cameras, the Visioscan® VC 20 plus features a unique UV-A LED illumination (proven to present no hazard to normal human skin) in a small, easy-to-handle, ergonomically designed plastic casing. The light is homogenously distributed by a reflector. In addition, the camera consists of a high-resolution b/w video sensor chip, an objective and the new “liquid lens technology”, an electronically controlled lens which automatically adapts to the skin surface distance and maximizes the range of depth of field.The results are impressive, non-glossy images of the skin surface (size approx. 10 x 8 mm) displayed in 255 grey levels. Wrinkles and lines appear dark and skin scaliness can be seen as very bright pixels. The software analyses the image regarding a variety of topography parameters.

SELS (Surface Evaluation of the Living Skin)This evaluation method was developed by the Institute for Experimental Dermatology, Prof. Tronnier, University of Witten-herdecke, Germany. The grey level distribution of the image isused to evaluate –within one second – four clinical parameters to quantitatively and qualitatively describe the skin surface as an index:
Skin smoothness (Sesm), Skin roughness (Ser), Scaliness (Sesc), Wrinkles (Sew).

Skin-Visiometer® SV 700 USB
The Skin-Visiometer® SV 700 USB is an established tool to evaluate the topography (micro relief) of the skin surface by light transmission of a very thin, special blue dyed silicone replica.

The measurement of the depth of the skin micro relief has been a most interesting subject to the cosmetic industry for decades. Visioline® VL 650
Skin macro-relief assessment
The Visioline ® VL650 is used for assessing the skin macro-relief using a replica and oblique lighting. It provides another excellent method for assessing the topography of the skin. It is a further development of the renowned Quantirides® system.
Where to use:
This method has been scientifically acknowledged and established for many years to analyse objectively the deeper lines and macro wrinkles such as crow feet. This is especially interesting for claim support of anti-aging and antiwrinkle products.
The measurement is based on shadows on a silicon replica. The replica, which is a negative of the skin surface, is illuminated uniformly with a defined light source mounted in a specified angle. The shadows visible on the replica created by the oblique light are captured with a high resolution, quick FireWire camera, which is mounted vertically to the replica. The sophisticated software analyses different characteristics of the wrinkle in real length and depth (in mm) and a shape factor.

New Method to Measure Viscoelasticity & Anistropy
By CutiScan you are able to measure skin displacement by video while circular suction/relaxation applies to skin (Optical flow). The CutiScan offers a new dimension of looking at the mechanical properties of the skin (viscoelasticity & anisotropy).
Where to use:
There are no limits to applications in efficacy testing and basic research wherever skin aging and elastic properties play a role.

Visiopor® PP 34 N
The Visiopor can be used to visualize porphyrines (bacterial pigments from Propionibacterium acnes creating comedones and later acne) through fluorescence. Porphyrines show as orange-red spots in the pores under a specific UV light. There are numerous applications for both skin and scalp especially in the field of acne treatment and management.
It comes with an easy to handle evaluation software (distinguishing the reddish-orange porphyrines of the bacteria from other yellowish-greenish fluorescents in quantity, size and intensity)

Sebufix® SF 16
The Sebufix® F16 is a special foil absorbing the sebum of the skin surface due to its micro pores and showing them as spots in different sizes. When mounted on the Visioscan® camera, the qualitative sebum production can uniquely be monitored in real time. The foil is applied to the skin and the sebum will become visible as transparent spots in various sizes after only a few seconds. The lateral spread of sebum in the foil is minimized. Skin with low sebum content shows a few small spots, whereas oily skin is visualized by a great number of large spots.

Corneofix® CF 20
Desquamation Collector Foil
Corneofix® CF 20 is a special adhesive tape collecting corneocytes (flakes of dead cells). The number, size and thickness of the corneocytes indicate the desquamation/hydration level of the stratum corneum. When mounted on the Visioscan® camera, the desquamation can be evaluated by its software.
The adhesive side of the Corneofix® is applied to the skin area to be measured for only a very short time. On removing the tape from the skin the corneocytes stick to the tape. Many thick, large corneocytes can only be collected when the skin is dehydrated or even damaged. Moist skin shows small regular flakes.
Where to use:
- In cosmetology, the moisture content of the skin is one of the most important parameters for formulation and efficacy testing. Typical claims substantiated with the Corneofix®: supports skin renewal, exfoliating, against dry/scaly skin, and more.
- The Corneofix® is perfectly suitable for skin surface strippings for the various applications.

It offers pixel resolution in X, Y, high accuracy in Z, less sensitive to movement. Based on high quality and stability components, different fields of view are available by simply changing objectives sets to switch from small to large measurement areas (from skin structure to body part)
It employs an interchangeable sensor system with the appropriate resolution for a variety of applications:
- Highest resolution local measurement (FOV-110 , 170)
- High resolution whole face measurement (FOV-250)
- Global measurement covering a part of the body (FOV-480)
In addition, it is equipped with a unique alignment (image superposition) algorithm, and when superimposing, it does not identify wrinkles but superimposes based on the curve and shape of the measurement surface itself. Therefore, even if wrinkles change due to moisturizing, etc., it is possible to identify the same part and accurately superimpose the images before and after the treatment for evaluation.
Dedicated Positioning Bench
The panelists are installed on the visio-4D or into the visioTOP 500 bench for stable and repeatable positioning and re-positioning between the different measuring times points. Managing the volunteers and getting reliable and repeatable results becomes much easier.
Face Mode: The volunteer is sitting and is adjusted in height using a motorized actuator to be in the right position relative to the head and keeps limiting its movements. A laser and a mirror allow the person to place his face repeatedly at each time.
Body Mode: The volunteer is standing and adjusted so that he has a comfortable position to keep maintaining the system. The laser is used to position the person repeatedly at each time. As an option you can have a rotating plate allowing to acquire the body automatically without operator intervention.

VisioTOP 300 – Dedicated Positioning Bench
VisioTOP 300 bench has been designed and dedicated for stable and repeatable positioning and re-positioning between the different measuring times points. Managing the volunteers and getting reliable and repeatable results becomes much easier. This bench supports DermaTop-HE, EvaSKIN and EvaFACE for all types of face analysis.
The volunteer is sitting and is adjusted in height using a motorized actuator to be in the right position relative to the head and keeps limiting its movements. A laser and a mirror allow the person to place his face repeatedly at each time.
Repositioning is completely reproduceable thanks to VisioTOP300 and Software AEVA-V4 and will be saved for next measurement.
Powerful Software Aeva-V4

System Configuration
The compact thermal camera EvaTHERM can measures the thermal range from -20 to 100 °C in 0.04 k thermal resolution. The accuracy for such a measurement is 2%. It means it can detect any changes on the skin surface for clinical assessment. The system is full USB compatible and connected to PC easily. The image resolution is 382 x 288 pixels.

Skin ultrasound is a powerful, non-invasive, cost-effective and
real-time technique that improves your daily practice when diagnosing,
treating and monitoring skin tumours, vascular tumours,
skin inflammatory diseases, nail lesions and cosmetic procedures. 22MHz ultrasound and B mode image is interested for this purpose.

- With 22 MHz you can look 6-8 mm deep into the skin in high resolution.

- Only water is needed to receive a scan, no messy gel application. Foils are not necessary but can be used optionally
- Continuous live scans, not only one single scan per measurement (video of 10 images per B-scan)
- Automatic measurement between set lines of skin thickness in µm and skin density(ultrasound density in % and as a colour value between 0 and 256 a.u.) for the total image and split for epidermis/entrance echo and dermis.

- The measurements of up to 6 areas per image can be saved.
- Phase correction (flattening of the image) to determine skin thickness as exactly as possible

- The images of the B-scan can be exported as image-files to be used in other applications.

The Visioface RD is a full face photographic system. What does it do?
The VisioFace® RD and its software have been developed in cooperation with Monaderm to take high resolution full face photos under standardized conditions. It is focused on simple organisation of the photos and detailed comparisons.
